Summer II Library Services

Whether you’re teaching online this summer or doing research, Carmichael Library is here to support you with the following services:

  • Access to journal articles, e-books, streaming videos and more is available from off-campus through the library website. Log in with your UM username and password.
  • Assistance: Chat with a librarian on the library website Sunday 2 to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or email us at
  • Instruction: Library instruction is available for your classes, in synchronous or asynchronous mode. Contact Kathy Lowe or Anna Mary Williford.
  • Curbside pickup is offered Sunday through Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. for those wishing to check out library books, DVDs or laptops. Simply fill out the curbside pickup form (linked from the library website) and come ring the new doorbell on the front door of the library when the materials are ready!
  • Interlibrary loan service (ILL) is up and running! Please be aware that delivery of print materials or DVDs may take slightly longer than usual, and will need to be picked up at the library during scheduled pickup times.
  • Scan-and-deliver service is available if you can’t make it to the library for a pickup. Limited portions of a book or journal article from the Carmichael Library collection can be scanned and emailed to you. The scan-and-deliver form is linked from the homepage of the library website.

2020-2021 Student Employment Information

Please email Mark Bolton in Human Resources if you need assistance posting a 2020-2021 student employment opportunity in your department. We hope to place a large number of Work-Study students prior to the beginning of the academic semester; these students may begin earning their awards on Aug. 1.

Remember, it is necessary for the supervisors of Work-Study employees to submit new Student Personnel Action Forms each scholastic year. Also, please notify Bolton if you have student employees who will not be able to return to their positions due to COVID-19 campus restrictions. For example, some leisure activities managed by student employees may not re-open at the beginning of the school year. Furthermore, let Bolton know if you will need additional student staff due to COVID-19 requirements. We will attempt to re-assign student workers to areas of greatest need based on the current “Culture of Safety” initiatives.
