Montevallo Volleyball Hosting “Falcons Fighting Cancer” Event Oct. 22

The University of Montevallo Athletic department is hosting, “Falcons Fighting Cancer,” a Breast Cancer Awareness event Tuesday, Oct. 22, to help raise money for breast cancer research.

The event will take place at the Montevallo volleyball match against Lee University at 6 p.m. There will be a cookout at 5 p.m. prior to the game, and a silent auction will also take place inside the arena alongside the game.

“We are looking forward to having a great group of supporters at our match Tuesday. We have the cookout so come out and eat and watch your Falcons,” said Head Coach Katie O’Brien. “We will also have some athletic gear up for a silent auction and hopefully some other items to help raise some money.”

T-shirts will be on sale at the event for $15 (S-XL) and $20 (2XL-3XL). You can also make donations at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.

Vallo Voice Feedback Requested

In May, UM’s Technology Advisory Council approved a change in campus email notifications to be piloted through the summer months and into the fall semester. You can read more here.

As a result, Vallo Voice is now the University’s official e-newsletter providing campus news, announcements, event information and highlights on student, faculty and staff achievements.

Your feedback on Vallo Voice is requested at this link. The survey will remain open through Thursday, Oct. 31.

Marketing Casting Call

Do you know students who are interested in the possibility of being included in University of Montevallo promotional materials? (ex. brochures, social media, digital and print advertising, billboards, etc.) The Office of University Marketing & Communications is holding a casting call Monday, Oct. 21, from noon to 2 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the lower level of Farmer Hall.

Students who are interested in participating in upcoming photo and video shoots should attend. All they need to do is show up during one of the available timeframes, be prepared to have their photo taken and complete a short form. The process should take less than 10 minutes per individual.

Please note: Involvement in photo and video shoots does not guarantee placement in marketing materials.
