Volunteers Needed for Move-In Day 2018

Volunteers are always needed to assist and welcome these students as they move into their new homes.

If you or your office would like to volunteer between 7:45 a.m. and noon, please submit an email with your name(s) and availability to Housing & Residence Life. Housing will assign each volunteer with a building for one of two different shifts that morning.

The Hope Bryant Smith Memorial 5K will be held Saturday, Aug. 18 at the McChesney Student Activity Center. The race will take runners down College Drive toward the baseball field. There, the course will transition from a hard surface to a winding trail run that follows a babbling brook.

Runners will exit the trail and resume their run along Reafaire Farm. Runners will enter the driveway of Reafaire Farm where they can race alongside the horses to the turnaround point and loop back to the start along the same course. More information, including age brackets and tickets, is available online.

State Issues New Changes for Travel Reimbursement Procedures

Governor Kay Ivey recently issued changes to travel reimbursement procedures that became effective for all State departments and institutions on July 1.

These changes are intended to streamline and bring enhanced efficiency and transparency to the travel reimbursement process by reducing the record keeping requirements for meals and incidental expenses and by giving Agency Directors more responsibility for approving official travel.

The University’s Office of Business Affairs has updated Travel Procedures and Forms to incorporate these changes, which are viewable online.

Accounts Payable will be coming to department meetings over the next few months to provide in-person training. If you need assistance at any time with travel, please email Alicia Smith or call 205-665-6064.
