The University continues to hold randomized on-campus sentinel testing this semester to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 among UM’s faculty, staff and students.

If you have not already done so, please do your part to keep campus safe and health by visiting to set up an account to be included in on-campus sentinel testing. Use your UM email address to create your account. You will answer some basic questions and verify your email. Once your account is created, keep an eye on your email, including your junk or clutter folder, for a potential invitation to participate in sentinel testing.

Sentinel testing involves testing a random sample of UM’s population each week to help monitor the prevalence of COVID-19 in our campus community. Every week, UM aims to randomly test at least 3% of its on-campus population.

Eric Dittelman, Mind Reader

Thursday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m., RSVP via  FalconLink

Ever wonder what it would be like to know what someone else was thinking? What if you knew exactly what someone else was going to do before they did it? Eric Dittelman knows what that’s like and has been reading minds at theaters, colleges, comedy clubs and corporate events all across the country.

Often known by just his surname, Dittelman combines amazing mind reading with stand-up and improv comedy. In 2012, he blew audiences away as the first-ever mind reader on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” where he was a season seven semi-finalist and judges’ favorite. He has since appeared on “Ellen,” “Live with Kelly and Ryan” and “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” where Penn called his act “bordering on genius!” He’s also been featured in Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and even The National Enquirer.

He has studied improv comedy with Upright Citizens Brigade, Improv Boston and Second City. He was nominated “Fastest Rising Star” and won 2015’s “Best Male Performer Award” by Campus Activities Magazine. In 2018, he made his Broadway debut appearing with “The Illusionists.”

Flu Vaccine Clinic

Wednesday, Oct. 28, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Farmer Hall Meeting Room

Student Health Services will host a flu vaccine clinic for UM students, faculty,  staff,  family members and members of the community in the Farmer Hall meeting room.

Attendees must bring their health insurance card. Masks must be worn and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to at the clinic. The cost of the vaccine with no health insurance is $25 for UM students and employees who present their UM ID card, and $30 for family members and members of the community. The vaccine is available at NO COST to insured individuals.

Flu clinic participants should print and fill out a vaccination form and bring it with them to the clinic. Forms are available  here.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, influenza vaccination will be especially important this upcoming flu season to reduce the impact of respiratory illnesses in the population and resulting burdens on the health care system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because COVID-19 and the flu share many symptoms, individuals who display flu-like symptoms may be required to quarantine until they receive a negative COVID-19 test. Getting a flu vaccine mitigates this by helping to prevent the onset of symptoms due to the flu.
