Summer 2015

Officers' Report

We hope you are enjoying the summer and have a chance to play a few sets at the facility. The Board is working hard on many things and is ready to roll out a new reservation system. We will also revive the classic Tennis Ball.

In other matters, our President, Nam Jack, is on a medical leave of absence. During this time, Charlie Perry, Vice President, will be Acting President of the Foundation. The Officers and Members of the Board wish Nam a speedy recovery.

Check it Out! Reserve a Court!
Plan Your Game! Less Waiting to Play!

On August 1st the SMTC will begin using TennisBookings, an online reservation system for our members and pros to book court times. The system will be available for all members to access on most digital devices, including computers and cell phones. Several clubs in the area currently use this simple system. Members can better plan their playing time by reserving a court and avoid frustration during peak times when wait times are long.

Players will be able to reserve a specific court for up to 2 hours for doubles or 1.5 hours for singles up to 5 days in advance but not closer than 2 hours before play. The Board on occasion will set aside courts for special Club events several times a year and the teaching pros will also reserve specific courts for their use -- but these reserved courts will be easily seen on the reservation schedule when you log in.

To check out this new system, go to http://sanmarinoTC.tennisbookings.com. You will also find this link on the website. Anyone may log in as a guest to view court usage, but only members can reserve a court time. Full reservation policies can be viewed by clicking on the blue Policies link at the top right of the daily schedule. Every member family will receive an email with an initial username and password before August 1st. After the initial log in, members may reset their username and password using the blue My Profiles link.

Members arriving without a reservation will be able to use any non-reserved court for up to the same 2 or 1.5 hours if other walk-ons are waiting, or until a reservation arrives for their court time. On the weekends, Court 2 will be kept open for anyone in the community to walk on and play.

Anyone will be able to view the reservation schedule throughout the day on a monitor which will be positioned in the pro shop to be visible through the windows should the shop be closed.

If you reserve a court and do not show up after 15 minutes, you will lose your reservation privileges.

New Sign!

Have you seen the new changes to our signage at the entrance off of St. Albans Road? Arthur Wicke, who has been playing tennis at the Center since he was seven years old, had been hard at work improving the walk up to the courts as part of his Eagle Scout Project. We would like to thank last year's Board Member Karen Stracka for her $500 donation to the Center for the project, Arthur's grandmother, Peggy Miller, for her donation of $1,500, the Wickes for donating $1,000, Bruce Snapper of Snapper Construction for his donation of time to coordinate the building of the sign, stone pillars, and lighting, and Board Member Harold Young for donation of the crew and materials from Pierre Landscaping of over $3,000 in value.
