I wanted to quickly recap last weekends meeting for those of you who missed it.
Open House Sign
We made the open house sign. Please go grab it off my shoreline on the north side of the lake. Below is a picture of it on my beach. If you are planning ahead, I can email our LCIA members what day/time you will be hosting so folks can look for the sign on your dock. Just let me know. Amber and I had the sign up last Saturday for a few hours and had some visitors, it was really fun!
Neighborhood Garage Sale
We decided to dedicate up to $200 for a neighborhood garage sale promotion. We voted to have the garage sale on Saturday August 2nd. The idea here is to promote in the paper, at local businesses and with signs that residence around Crookneck lake will be having garage sales. Hopefully this will generate some traffic so we can have successful sales. Please drop me a note if you plan to have a garage sale and the kinds of items you are selling.
High Water Update
We talked about the high water, which is even higher now! Here is the word from Morrison County: No Wake Zones. The long and short is that we simply are asking people to be respectful of the shoreline erosion and keep the speeds slow.
LID
The LID (Lake Improvement District) had their meeting last weekend also. They commissioned a weed study of the lake and here is the report: Aquatic Vegetation Survey. The plan is to not treat the weeds next year but get another survey done in June vs. in the spring. This way we are on a better schedule and have the best chance of identifying the invasive weeds and controlling them.
Email Help
We want to start shifting correspondence to email. So obviously if you are reading this you are already onboard ;) It would be helpful if you could ask your neighbors if they are getting the 'LCIA - News' emails. If they are not, ask them to email me requesting to get on the list.
Landing Cleanup Volunteers
Thanks to Bob Gubash for volunteering to keep the landing clean this early summer, John Marsh has volunteered for the 2nd half of the summer.
Next Meeting
Our fall meeting will be August 30th, 2014 at 9:00, at the Scandia Valley Town Hall. Please come with ideas about projects or social functions you think would help build our Crookneck community stronger!
Thanks,
JJ Parker jj@trms.com
Go grab the sign from my beach!
Tape your name to the top of the sign so we know who you are. Please don't write on the sign ;)
