The stabilising of the dam wall at the 17th has been completed. The "WHITE ROCKS OF SHEPPIE" are an effort to stop erosion of the wall due to water lapping against the base of the wall.
The waste bunker infront of the 16th tee is next on the list of improvements to be undertaken. The reason for this is two fold. Firstly to hide the drains and manhole covers, which are an eyesore and secondly to encourage golfers to play up the 11th fairway instead of using the 16th as an alternative route.
Howard Crouch will be staging the second of his PAR 3 Tournaments on the 2nd of October. The first was a great success so let's support him in this endeavour to do something different and fun. Cost is R300 per team (includes golf cart which is compulsory) and it will be a Gunshot Start at 08h00. Scramble Drive.
There will also be a Wozani Shootout this coming Friday down at the Club as well. Everyone is most welcome to join in on this.
RULES TIP - Golfing Tip of the Week
A player may lift their ball in order to identify it at any time. NOTE the marker must be present and the ball must be replaced EXACTLY as it was prior to lifting, and may not be cleaned beyond that which is necessary for identification. This rule applies through the green (i.e on closely mown area's, in the rough, or in the hazard/bunker). This rule is important as in the event that you play the wrong ball a penalty will apply.
Have fun and enjoy your golf. The purpose is to have fun, but play within the rules.
Yours in Golf - Greg Hornby

We thought we would perhaps RELIVE and focus on some PEACE out there for a "far out" Club Fundraiser on the 30th of September.
I am sure everyone will be keen to join us for a "groovy party" at the end of the month with some tie-dye outfits, peace signs, flowers everywhere and some bright neon hippie attire?
Dave Marks will be performing on stage for us so join us and come and enjoy some great late 60's and early 70's lyrics. I am sure Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Santana and Crosby, Stills and Nash will be bringing back some fabulous memories for most of us so "groove" on down and "Be yourself, then you can free yourself" (Crosby, Stills and Nash).
The evening entertainment will start from around 5pm "ish" and we have a "Hippie Menu" for the evening. Don't forget the Lucky Draws & Club Members Draw as well as the Club 100 Draw.
Friday afternoon there will be a Bowls Competition from 14h00, and a "Fowl Friday" Golf Combined Stableford competition so please support these two great Club Fundraisers and put your names down TODAY.
The "Fowl Friday" Golf Combined Stableford competition will be proudly sponsored by ROTOTANK so thanks kindly to Henry Janse Van Rensburg for this great sponsorship.
