News in from our Bowlers . . .

For the first time in several months we were able to play this tournament. No clashes with KBA or All Natal Events. It was a cloudy and very windy morning which made conditions tricky.

We would like to thank our sponsors Harbourview Spar for their generous support of this event, to Rastus Reen for the preparation of the green and to Gill Thiele for running the event.

The winners were Johnny and Richard Guy and Don Wiid. The runners up were John Nadauld, Rastus Reen and Alan Booth. The session prize was won by Brian Rawlins, Kathy Simpson and Len Rossler. Congratulations to one and all.

The event will be held again on 8 November.

CAPTAINS CORNER

The PSCC MENS LEAGUE TEAM have won their last two matches and have put themselves in with a good chance of winning the league title with one match to go.

On Sunday they had an emphatic win against SELBORNE on a day where PSCC hosted SELBORNE as well as MARGATE and SOUTHBROOM. The weather was kind, the golf of a high standard and with the hosts providing coffee as well bacon and egg rolls to all participants before golf as well as a braai to end the day a wonderful atmosphere prevailed. Thanks to RYAN and UMTHUNZI for sponsoring the meat for the braai. Once again SHEPPIE showed that they are a step ahead with their innovative thinking.

The MEN’S INTERCLUB will be taking place on the 28th 29th and 30th of October and will be played over the PORT SHEPSTONE CC, MARGATE CC and SOUTHBROOM courses. It is expected that the fields will be full and all these courses booked out on the Friday and Saturday with possibly a few times available on Sunday the 30th. The PRO SHOP will endeavour to arrange reciprocity at clubs in the vicinity on these days, if any times become available on any of the competition days members will be notified.

RULES TIP

When your ball is lost or unplayable in a LATERAL WATER HAZARD (marked by RED STAKES) the following options are available to you;

1. You may replay your shot from the position where you hit the original shot.

2. You may drop your ball keeping the point where your ball last crossed the margin of the hazard between yourself and the pin, and you may go back as far as you like on this line.

3. You may drop your ball within 2 club lengths of the point that the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard, but not closer to the hole.

4. You may drop a ball on the opposite side of the hazard within 2 club lengths of a point equidistant from the hole( ie a point equidistant with regard to the point where the original shot crossed the margin of the hazard)

REMEMBER THE POINT WHERE YOUR BALL LANDS /SPLASHES IN THE HAZARD PLAYS NO PART IN DETERMINING WHERE TO DROP.
