Advertising, Media & Marketing Co-ordinator

Greetings to you all, Members & Friends,

Please all remember to vote in this weeks South Coast Herald . . .

Our Club has been selected as one of the Top 3 in the BEST GOLF COURSE categories in the South Coast Herald's . . .

This is a recent Readers Choice Award competition which has been running in the South Coast Herald for the past few weeks and the nominations are strictly audited by Chantel Elliott and Company.

The South Coast Herald will be announcing the top 3 nominated businesses in the 42 different categories in the 26 September issue, where readers will then get to vote for the winning business in each category.

This is NOW your chance as Members & Friends of the Port Shepstone Country Club to please go and get a South Coast Herald and TO PLEASE VOTE FOR US!!!!!!!!!

Well it was another fabulous and hectically busy weekend down at our Club last weekend. Many thanks to all of you who showed up and supported the Club on Friday night, and also for those of you that supported the Opening Ceremony of the Rugby World Cup!! Gosh so much of rain this weekend, and it was rather nippy outside too, but the Pub had a great atmosphere and it was pumping with activity!!

No winner for the Club Members Draw this week so this Friday our jackpot will climb to R1000 so don't miss it!!

Please all remember to tell your friends that any patron that supports our Club on a Friday night can enter into our Bar Lucky Draws.  Visitors are welcome.

PLEASE NOTE - You have to be present at the Club to win these prizes if your name is drawn!!

I am looking for additional businesses to assist with some prizes for our Friday evening "pub fun" . . .

I advertise and promote your business in recognition of your contribution towards the prize evening, so please contact me should you wish to sponsors a prize.

Prizes that I am looking for are:  Meal Vouchers, Hampers, Wine, or anything you may wish to advertise your business with.

Winners of last Friday's Lucky Draws were . . .

Winner of the R100 Meal Voucher this week from Schooners Restaurant was Ken Morris. Thanks to Blackie and Marie Swart for this kind sponsorship towards our Lucky Draw evening.

Winner of the Bottle of Whiskey prize sponsored by Tails Up - Port Shepstone this week was Graham Wood - "Woody".

Winner of the R100 Froggy Pond Nursery Voucher - Kobus Gildenhuys.

See some social pics below of Friday evening. The others can be viewed on our Facebook page.

Celebrating their Birthday's at the Club on Friday night too were below pic on the left - Chisel Hodges who celebrated turning 72 years old, and the pic on the right below is Caroline Harris who also partied big and celebrated her 71st Birthday!!

Many thanks to all of you who supported the Club on Saturday as well for the World Cup Rugby celebrations. It was a fabulously festive party with Proudly South African revellers who joined in on the festivities of the first Bok game of the World Cup Rugby!!

We had Biltong, Popcorn, & Shooters on the house, and we even gave away some FREE Beers too!!!! The "Predict the Score" Competition was well supported with a 1st Prize of R555 that was won by Jean Osborne. Mercedes Benz Brollies and a Beer hamper were 2nd, 3rd and 4th Prizes and these were won by Kyle Whitaker, Jacqueline McCarroll and Cavell Danckwerts respectively. Many thanks to Gary & Kerrin Gouws for the sponsorship of the Mercedes Benz Brollies and to Carrie Pieterse, our Club Manager for the beer hamper.

A few extra thank you's I also need to mention . . .

VERY big thank you and a shout out to our fabulous Executive Committee of the Club, who gave me a wonderful hamper of Popcorn, Biltong, Shooters and some Beer to spoil our patrons with and to welcome in the Rugby World Cup.

Thanks also go to Graeme Milligan from Harbour View Spar for our "Popcorn Price Special Deal" and thanks to Bevis Fairbrother from the South Coast Herald for the sponsorship of those "new" delightful flags that decorated our pub area.

Thank you once again to Jenny Vogt for graciously giving of her time to help me with the décor of the Pub, even when she still had the entire hall to decorate for the Lions Special Function on Saturday night.  Wow thanks Jen!!

To the bestest DJ and Music Maestro ever!! . . . Thanks to Pete Stoppel for just THE most fabulous music selection on Saturday. Wow what a party!!!

To Jacqueline McCarroll, Carrie Pieterse and Cavell Danckwerts for being my most wonderful and fabulous support team and for helping me to put it all together - you guys are B - E - A - U - T - I - F - U - L!!!!!!!!!

If you missed out on the party this weekend - Be at the game this coming Saturday when SA will take on Samoa @ 17h45 pm. All are welcome at our Club!!

I am organising the Izotsha Primary School Golf Day as well on Saturday, so prize giving just before the rugby starts should be full of fun as per my usual - I have also organised The Sound Dogs to play music for us from 3pm so there is NO EXCUSE not to join us for this cracker of a golf day.

The field is almost full for this golf day, so if you are still interested in putting a 4 Ball together, then you had better contact the PRO Shop rather urgently!!

If you are perhaps still interested in being involved and sponsoring a tee, I do have a few vacant so please contact me urgent. Prizes are also most welcome too.

The start of the game saw everyone in high spirits with flags flying and the "springbok shooters" flying even faster . . . so much of restlessness waiting for the game to begin . . . and then it all began . . . with everyone patriotically standing up and singing our National Anthem . . . you could almost feel the beat of the African drum in one's heart as the game began and our Boys ran out onto the field.

The support from everyone was phenomenal, and the vibe in the Pub was electric right from the beginning. We had most people in South African rugby shirts with caps, and the flags were flying non-stop and with enormous pride.  We even had South African "stick on" tattoo's proudly worn by most . . . (and I think worn on Sunday too . . . as I am not sure about you, but I battled to get mine off!!!!)

So much of unbelievable support for our Bokke . . .

Many thanks to our hardworking bar staff as well . . .

Ahhh and then after an intense gripping finale we sadly lost the game to Japan.

Well done to Japan for a game well played and yes, I am also concerned that our Boys will come home early if they don't wake up quickly. The results were intensely disappointing, but let's rather show support for our team unconditionally at this present time and remain the proud South Africans that we truly are rather than to judge them.

So Cheers!!! . . . here's to the next game that we so patiently wait for this weekend. I hope to see you all back at the Club.

Winners of our "Predict the Score" Competition was a 1st Prize of R555 - Jean Osborne.  In 2nd Place Kyle Whitaker winning a beer hamper, and in 3rd Place Jacqueline McCarroll and in 4th Place Cavell Danckwerts - both winning Mercedes Benz Brollies!!

The Business Day Bowls Challenge this Friday the 18th September was well supported sponsored by Quinn's Pure Coconut Oil.  Many thanks to Mike Quinn for this kind sponsorship for this day. The conditions were not the best being cold and very overcast, but the bowlers thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon of bowls!! See our Winners below with photo's.

Quinn’s pure coconut oil started about 15 years ago when they noticed that the price of coconut oil on the market at that time was excessively high and out of proportion to what was available for the industrial market. It was also only available in health shops.

Mike Quinn founded Quinn’s coconut oil and has established a distributorship in all the provinces in South Africa. Lorraine and Alan Booth are the distributors on the South Coast, (Lorraine being Mike’s sister) and have outlets in all the major Malls, especially the health shops, Spar stores including Harbour view spar.

For more information please contact Mike Quinn on 082 867  9917.

We give a big word of thanks to our sponsor Mike Quinn of Quinn’s Coconut Oil who provided the liquid refreshments for the day as well.

Our winners were Admiral’s View team (photo left) consisting of Alan, Mary and Jonathan Jacobson and Ken Morris. Runners up were (photo right) Johnny’s Tree Felling being Johnny Bloch, Glen Douglass, Kathy Simpson and Johnny Guy.
