Medical Director Change

HospiceCare of the Piedmont would like to congratulate Dr. Nancy Hart Wicker for her acceptance into the Palmetto Health Hospice & Palliative Care Fellowship.  She and her family have temporarily moved to Columbia.  It is a wonderful opportunity for Dr. Wicker.  We wish her much success and look forward to her return in twelve months.
Beginning July 1st, Dr. John Hendrix will be serving as our Interim Medical Director.  Dr. Hendrix joins our team of Hospice Physicians including Dr. Bob Todd, Dr. Bridgett Seagrove, Dr. Ashley Harte, Dr. Rob Tiller, Dr. John Eichelberger, and Dr. Josh Holmes.  We appreciate his willingness to step in.

HCP Named Recipient of Grant for Advance Care Planning

The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care, along with the South Carolina Coalition for the Care of the Seriously III (CSI), announced the five community recipients of funds provided through the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation Grant for the SC Advance Care Planning (ACP) Initiative.  HospiceCare of the Piedmont was one of the five awarded.

The overall purpose of the grant is to improve the quality of and accessibility to advance care planning conversations through shared health care decision making for all South Carolinians, through awareness, education, collaboration and establishing a statewide repository/directory to allow access and retrieval of advance care planning documentation.

HospiceCare
of the Piedmont (HCP) is appreciative for this opportunity. We are excited and eager to begin our local initiative efforts.  HCP has partnered with Wesley Commons, Abbeville Area Medical Center, Family Health Care of Ninety Six and Little River Missionary Baptist Association. The plan includes not only working with our named partners but will expand to include other facilities and groups in the community.  HCP is passionate about this mission to positively impact health care in our communities.
