Christmas Parades, Pageants and Events in the New Year

Anne Sparrow of Green Skills and Albany Twilight Market Festival Organisers in the Christmas Pageant spotlight

TWILIGHT MARKETS IN ALBANY
A crowd of thousands flocked to the AlbanyTwilight Markets on Friday and Saturday the 6-7th December.  Over 45 local stall holders made their wares available for Christmas shopping over the two nights.  Anne Sparrow was a primary organiser and co-ordinator of this inaugural Albany Twilight Christmas market.
The focus of this event was to create an opportunity to interrupt on-line sales by providing local small, micro and home-based business an opportunity to trade in the lead up to Christmas gift giving. All stalls reported great sales with many happy customers going back on the second night for more. Follow on testamonials are still being received from those businesses who are still reaping the benefits. These small micro and home-based businesses are in-turn supporting more local businesses. This will assist in helping create a diverse and vibrant sustainable economy underpinning sustainable communities.
Green Skills held a plastic-free bath bomb making activity for kids - great presents to give to their parents or siblings for Christmas.
The Twilight Markets was a part of the City of Albany Christmas Festival which provided music, street theatre and the of course the Christmas Pageant.
