OSA announces new Student Chapter at University of Bristol

We are pleased to announce the formation of the B.O.S.S. Bristol Optical Students Society (also known as University of Bristol OSA Student Chapter).

Researchers at CQP have made the research highlights on the front cover of this month's edition of the IEEE Photonics Society News.


CQP Review published in Nature Physics


The paper entitled "Testing foundation of Quantum Mechanics with Photons" was authored by Peter Shadbolt, Jonathan C.F Mathews, Anthony Laing and Jeremy L O'Brien.

EPSRC Inspirational scientists list


Professor Jeremy O’Brien, director of CQP, has been named as a RISE Leader for 2014 by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).


Exciting Developments in Doctoral Training

The Quantum Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training is due to open in September this year and will train new generation of scientists and engineers. 

Quantum Computing - Explained

Dr Ruth Oulton has been interviewed by Nicola Davis, commissioning editor from the Guardian newspaper about Quantum Computing and what makes it so special.

QECDT Interviews were held on the 7th and 8th April for studentships at our new Centre for Doctoral Training in Quantum Engineering.  Applications are closed for the 2014/15 intake, however please continue to check the website for further opening for 2015. 

CQP Events

Bristol Quantum Hanami


Members of CQP enjoyed Hanami in Royal Fort Gardens. The Japanese tradition, meaning "flower viewing" is to celebrate the transient beauty of flowers, in particular the cherry blossom and can only be celebrated whilst the flowers are in bloom.
