Jessica Azulay, Program Director at Alliance for a Green Economy, is the recipient of the 2016 Lou and Judi Friedman Legacy Award from Beyond Nuclear and People's Action for Clean Energy.

The Alliance for a Green Economy (AGREE) Steering Committee is proud to share the news that Jessica Azulay, Program Director at AGREE, based in Syracuse, NY, has been awarded the 2016 Judi and Lou Friedman Legacy Award for her leadership in promoting a carbon-free, nuclear-free New York. Beyond Nuclear and People’s Action for Clean Energy (PACE) created the award to honor Judi and Lou Friedman, teachers and advocates for peace who worked tirelessly for a safe and sustainable world. The award honors, encourages and supports the work of young people dedicated to building a sustainable energy future and hastening the end of nuclear power.

Jessica received this year’s award “for her inspiring leadership and coalition building to transition New York state to a carbon-free and nuclear-free energy supply for a sustainable economic future.”  Jessica’s tireless work to educate the public about the current energy system and articulate pathways for moving toward a sustainable, renewable energy system in the state deserves recognition.  She has been a leader in the call to replace New York’s unprofitable, aging, and dangerous nuclear plants via energy efficiency and a transition to renewable energy. Based on research and informed by principles of social, economic, and racial justice, Jessica's advocacy work is built on her ability to dig into the details of energy policy and her knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
“I am deeply honored to receive the 2016 Judi and Lou Friedman Legacy Award. I appreciate your faith in my ability to do this important work and will continue to fight for a carbon-free and nuclear-free energy system.” said Jessica.
“We are thrilled to see AGREE and Jessica’s work recognized at the national level. Under Jessica’s leadership, AGREE has become a powerful advocate for a just energy transition in New York State," said Jessica Maxwell, Board Member of AGREE.

We hope you are as happy as we are to congratulate Jessica on a job well done and to wish her all the best as she continues the work of moving our state toward a green energy future!
