News 

Health Research Authority (HRA) Approval - update and online resources 

HRA Approval has been fully implemented and is now the route for applying for approvals for all project-based research in the NHS led from England. The NIHR CSP system is now closed to new applications.

To support researchers in navigating the new HRA approval process, a number of helpful online resources are provided on their website (including webinars, presentations and leaflets).

NIHR Infrastructure Training Secondment Opportunity

On offer from the NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre (TCC) is a 5 month secondment for a Senior Programme Manager. Working directly with the Workforce Senior Manager, the role has responsibility for the portfolio of research training undertaken within the NIHR infrastructure. It provides a development opportunity in engagement and communications.

Apply now for a Travelling Fellowship in 2017


Winston Churchill Memorial Trust are funding fellowships to investigate ground-breaking practice in other countries. Fellows would then return with innovative ideas that would benefit people in the UK. People with strong projects and a passion to make a difference to others are encouraged to apply.  

Fellowship categories include Nursing & Allied Health Professions, and Community Based Approaches in Mental Health.

Events 

An Introduction to Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Research: for Researchers 


Wednesday 22 June 2016 

Addenbrooke’s Campus, Cambridge

This free workshop is open to all research staff conducting research with patients in the NHS. It will be particularly useful for researchers new to PPI and who are actively involving lay members in their research for the first time. Presentations, case studies from PPI members and researchers, and interactive sessions will provide:

  • an introduction to PPI in research 
  • guidance on how it can be conducted
  • advice on incorporating PPI into grant funding

MSc in Implementation and Improvement Science – open evening

 

Wednesday 1 June, 6 to 8pm

King’s College London

Health professionals, patients or service users interested in improving health services and health outcomes for patients are invited to this open evening. Attendees will find out about the MSc, hear how it could benefit their career, and be able to meet staff and students.

NIHR Funding: Bid Development One-Day Workshop
