The Research Design Service (RDS) has released their December East Of England Bulletin for researchers across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, Bedfordshire and Essex.

This issue of the RDS e-bulletin contains:

Doctoral Fellowships (fully funded) for Nurses and Allied Health Professionals working in Dementia Care  - Applications now open

The Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care East of England (CLAHRC EoE) are seeking applications from nurses and allied health professionals to undertake full-time doctoral study in the field of dementia care. Dementia represents one of the greatest health challenges for health services and there is a need to develop research leaders to build the evidence base that underpins the provision of dementia care.

Internship programme for aspiring non-medical clinical academic – Health Education East of England


Health Education East of England is offering the first step in research training for health professionals currently working within the NHS in East of England. 

The internship programme is aimed at practitioners who have an interest in pursuing a clinical academic career within the NHS.

The programme is designed for aspiring non-medical clinical academics who want to develop a health related research component to their career. The programme will assist interns to acquire pre- master’s level experience and knowledge in clinical academic research with the support of an expert supervisor. Normally the next step would be to make application for a Masters in Research.

See Lisa's blog "Ebola economics and the Bottom Billion", where she examines the Ebola crisis, it's history and how the current outbreak is affecting the poorest regions of the world. Lisa explores how a push in funding from governments and charitable organisations is supporting vital research into finding a vaccine for the virus, whether this is too late for current countries affected and if the virus can be one day cured.

First dissemination event from theme research in CLAHRC East of England (EoE)

The event will start with a keynote presentation by Prof Peter Jones, Director of CLAHRC East of England.

The Dementia, Frailty and End of Life Care Theme of the CLAHRC is undertaking several applied research projects across the East of England. There will be brief presentations concerning these studies, with plenty of time for discussion and networking. The event is open to anyone with a professional or personal interest in these areas of care and is free of charge.
