What’s New on Our Website’ is a new, regular email to inform you of the latest news and events that have been posted on our website.

 

Our House: a short film in which young people talk about living in residential children’s homes- Video now available!

‘Our House’ is the third in a trilogy of films made by a group of researchers, film and sound artists, social care professionals and young people in care in Cambridgeshire. The young people put forward the issue of residential care as an important area they wanted to address through film. The film has been released onto Youtube.

Announcement by the DH and the NIHR on their Policy on Open Access for its funded research


The Department of Health (DH) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) have agreed with the other main biomedical research funders, with the principal of Open Access to the outputs of its research.DH has stated that it recognises that open access to the outputs of its research can offer both social and economic benefits as well as aiding the development of new research and stimulating wider economic growth of the UK economy.

Events

Every Researcher Counts – Progress and Challenges. Where are we now and where are we going?

This conference will showcase new resources for principal investigators and research staff, which will cover equality and diversity across all 9 protected characteristics.

Presentations will assess the current climate and progress made, including looking at sector drivers, mainstreaming and unconscious bias; with a particular focus on where we are now and what still needs to be done. The conference will unveil Vitae’s Actions for All, a series of pamphlets prepared from various stakeholder perspectives. It will also highlight the outcomes of a research project, by Oxford Brookes, on developing good practice to advance equality in research careers.

Bid Development Workshop for NIHR Fellowships 2015

This Research Design Service workshop is for people who have a draft proposal for the 2015 Round of NIHR Fellowships Programme and are current clients of NIHR RDS for East of England.It offers the opportunity to researchers to discuss and develop their applications within a supportive forum, drawing on a panel of research advisers’ experiences of NIHR Fellowships.

Alzheimer’s Research UK Research Conference 2015

Registration is now open for the Alzheimer’s Research UK Conference 2015, the largest dementia research conference in the UK.

This year’s scientific programme has been devised by a committee based at University College London, led by Prof John Hardy, Prof Nick Fox and Dr Sebastian Crutch.

The conference will include sessions that span the breadth of biomedical dementia research including neuroimaging, inflammation, biomarkers and vascular disease. There will be both clinical perspectives and mechanistic insights from leading experts.
