Victim of Excessive Use of Force Dies & Human Rights Defender's Health Deteriorates in Prison

Nabeel Rajab has been in detention for 287 days. The trial related to tweet charges was scheduled last week on Wednesday 22 March, but was postponed for the 12th time to 17 May. On 7 March, the trial on TV interviews was postponed for the 4th time to 16 April.

Arbitrary arrests this week
From 20 March to 26 March 2017, BCHR documented a total of 23 arbitrary arrests, among them 6 children. 6 of them were released later.
Sentences week 9
From 6 to 12 March 2017, a total of 16 persons have been judged in 4 politically motivated cases through both primary and appeal courts. They have been sentenced to a total of 69 years in prison.
 
Sentences week 10
From 13 to 19 March 2017, a total of 48 persons have been judged in 13 politically motivated cases through both primary and appeal courts. They have been sentenced to a total of 338 years in prison, and to pay a total fine of BHD 2149.6.
Sentences this week
From 20 to 26 March 2017, a total of 21 persons have been judged in 3 politically motivated cases through primary courts. They have been sentenced to a total of 251 years in prison, and to pay a total fine of BHD 1,541.35.

There were 4 defendants sentenced to life in prison and 3 sentenced to death.
Marches this week
From 20 March to 26 March 2017, a total of 68 marches took place in 32 villages in Bahrain. 12 marches were attacked by the riot police.

In the villages of Sanabis, Aldaih, Abo Saiba and Karbabad a total of people were reported injured from shotgun bullets in legs, hands, eyes and stomach.
