blackbird studio and gallery
OPEN STUDIO SAT MAY 10th 1PM-6PM
Please join me on Saturday May 10th for an open house at Michael Beaudoin's Studio.
Blackbird Studio & Gallery was built by my late partner to house his printing press and to showcase his paintings.
Michael died on March 15th 2011 at the age of 60.
His dedication to creativity was never more satisfying then during the time he spent on our farm in North Berwick Maine. Our 6 acre property is hard to manage without him.
I hope you'll take this opportunity to come and visit his space and view his art.
How can you help?
While Mick's work will not be for sale, my art will.
As a fund raising effort my own watercolors will be on display. You can purchase my artwork or simply make a small contribution in support of our plans to finish the work he began. Click on the link below to make your small contribution. We need your help.
Blackbird Studio has plans to form a Cooperative Gallery in the former print making workshop.
Twelve artists are currently ready to participate in the cooperative.
The goal is to provide them with a permanent location for their work to be displayed and shared by the general community.
These local artists have dedicated themselves to their mediums and are willing to spend a small portion of their personal income each month to become a part of this group of exhibitors.
They will host monthly open houses as well as workshops and meet-ups to discuss creativity, technical concerns, marketing and promotional strategies and plans to bring the local community together in celebration of their fine art.
Please join me in welcoming them on Saturday May 10th.
We'll take this opportunity to get to know each other better and to say one last goodbye to Mickey's space the way he left it.
Come at your leisure between the hours of 1PM and 6PM.
Bring friends, food, refreshments, or just bring yourself and we'll provide the rest.
Enjoy the grounds and view his fantastic selection of paintings and print work.
North Berwick is a rural town that will benefit from the development of it's art community.
A local group of artists that has formed in the Berwick's is looking forward to collaborating with the Studio on future events like Art Fair's, Classes and Workshops. The Berwick Art Association has reached over 100 artists in the area with it's informal monthly library meetings.
Blackbird Studio wants to open it's doors to BAA exhibits on an annual basis in addition to other local organisations like the Seacoast Moderns a group associated with the Kittery Art Association, Artist's of the Seacoast and more.
We still need to complete a few projects before we can offer this enthusiastic group of artists the space. Volunteers have offered to help with construction of the ceiling and fixing some leaks. We'll need to raise the money for materials like sheetrock, paint, & lumber.
We have a new door that will be installed by volunteers but we need some crushed stone for the driveway and some working capitol for the start-up expenses.
Please join me and the small group of artists who have made a commitment to making this dream a reality. Make a small contribution on our GoFundMe page.
And Join us in person on May 10th in North Berwick Maine. We're just 20 minutes from
Portsmouth on Rte 9 across from Noble High School.
