Frostburg State University
Summer Program Positions
Frostburg State University's Regional Math and Science Center (RMSC) are searching for summer staff members for their 2020 Summer Program.  The RMSC has three open positions for Science Teachers, Tutor Counselors, and Head Resident.  The RMSC is a TRIO Upward Bound grant program funded through the US Department of Education to help prepare and motivate high school students to pursue college degrees in math and science.

Students in the Summer Program come from backgrounds where financial resources are limited and parents do not have college degrees. These students participate in a rigorous, 3- to 6-week, summer residential program that focuses on conducting scientific investigations, and they present their scientific findings via a poster presentation.

Science Teacher positions have the option to teach a 2-week, 3-week, or 5-week course.  Several meetings would be held in the Spring to discuss course curriculum.  The Counseling positions have three options as well which include counseling for the beginning, intermediate, or advanced research program.

The Head Resident position would consist of supervising students participating in the program, leading team building and staff development activities, chaperoning field trips to ensure student safety, and providing a positive resident hall environment.

For more information and to apply for any of the three opening positions, visit the Regional Math and Science Center page on the Frostburg State University website.

Ask a Business Administration Alum:
Michael Plath '18

Michael Plath ’18 chose Shenandoah University because of its family atmosphere and the opportunity to receive a great education while being a member of the golf team. One of his fondest memories while at the university was volunteering at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, with 27 other Shenandoah University students and five faculty and staff members.

Plath was able to see the Winter Olympics in a unique way
that most people will never get to experience, and gain valuable knowledge of a major international sporting event. Lessons such as event planning, event management, cultural understanding, marketing, and more were taught to the students through class discussions and this intimate, first-hand experience. He was part of the volunteer team, which helped with the Biathlon Stadium by installing protection board and fencing, controlling spectators’ entry, etc.

Plath is a ticket and group sales associate for the Philadelphia 76ers, an American professional basketball team. In his position, he creates and executes strategies to improve the customer experience, and manages client information and data collection for ticket and group sales departments.
