Ripken Baseball
Summer Operations Intern

 
Ripken Baseball is looking for a 2020 Summer Operations Intern.  This paid internship will go from March through the end of August.  Ripken Baseball is located in Aberdeen, Maryland.  

Intern responsibilities include operating sport-specific instructional stations for pitching, hitting and fielding, serving as a Ripken Tournament official, assisting in programming and event operations for the facility as well as camps/clinics and much more.  College students who have an interest in sport administration and operations are highly encouraged to apply!  

Prior coaching experience is preferred and the intern would have to be willing to travel from mid-March through June throughout the United States.

ThunderCat Technology is looking for a Marketing Coordinator!  ThunderCat is an information technology and services company in Reston, VA that delivers technology services and solutions to government organizations, educational institutions, and commercial companies.  The Marketing Coordinator assists in overall marketing tactics and strategy and manages ThunderCat's portfolio of company partners.  The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for helping the Marketing Manager with management of the marketing, advertising and promotional activities.  

Primary responsibilities of the Marketing Coordinator include day-to-day assistance of the Marketing Manager and developing marketing materials including brochures, press releases, company documents, presentations, email content, and website updates. 

The Marketing Coordinator would also manage social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn as well as assisting with marketing and advertising campaigns and event management including the Charity Golf Tournament.  

Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong oral and written communication skills.  It is preferred that applicants have a Bachelors degree in Marketing or Communications and have 1-2 years of writing experience.  Experience in marketing is not required.

 Summer Associate Graduate Intern 
 
Navy Federal Credit Union is hiring for an Associate Graduate Intern this upcoming summer at their location in Winchester!  The intern will be working in operations in the Contact Center as a Member Service Representative (MSR).  

Responsibilities will include analyzing data to identify areas of opportunity then create recommendations that are in alignment with the strategic plan of the Contact Center.  The intern must have the ability to build relationships across the enterprise quickly and be a quick learner.  It is essential that the intern understands daily operations in order to see the impacts they have on Navy Federal Credit Union.  

Qualifications include: 
• Currently pursuing Master’s Degree or higher in related field
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
• Significant experience in the application of statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis and related analytical tools
• Advanced knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis and operations research, including statistical methods and modeling
• Advanced research, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Advanced skill following, interpreting and applying relevant data/instructions                                                  to guidelines, procedures, practices and regulations

Loudoun County Real Estate 
Paid Internship

The Loudoun County Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue Real Estate Division has a summer internship program available for Real Estate Appraiser Interns.  This 9 week program would run June 4, 2020 through August 19, 2020. 

Interns will collect property data on residential properties via internal (electronic and hard copy) records and external sources (through field visits to the property sites) and verify data related to new construction and existing properties.  Requirements also include measuring and calculating floor area square footage and sketching dwellings.  

Job requirements include an associate's degree or high school diploma, and 2 years of experience preferred in real estate, construction, engineering or geography.  Interns need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and provide quality customer service.  This position involves extensive interaction with homeowners, builders, other government agencies, and assessment staff.

Ask a History Alum: Jeff L. Harding '81
 

After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Jeffrey L. Harding ’81 began his first semester at Shenandoah University. Shenandoah was flexible with his admission and he was able to graduate in three years, graduating with honors and receiving the Barclay History Award.

“SU continues to excel in all levels of academics,” said Harding. “The campus is beautiful and continues to grow.  The administration, from president on down, are remarkable and user-friendly.”

Harding’s fondest memories of the university is meeting his wife of 35 years, Yvonne Harding ’79, ’80, (they’ve been together for 41 years), and Director of Shenandoah University’s Community History Project and History Professor Warren Hofstra, Ph.D, who instilled in him a love of history.

Harding is a litigation attorney for Sasscer, Clagett & Bucher in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and was named a 2019 Super Lawyer, in the Greater Metropolitan Washington D.C. area. The award is bestowed by Super Lawyers, a nationwide organization that tracks and evaluates the work of outstanding practicing attorneys. Harding has received this distinction every year since 2007, and has been listed in the influential Baltimore Magazine as one of the top 100 Maryland lawyers, in the category of criminal defense.
