Career Opportunities 
Enterprise is looking to hire Management Trainee and Management Intern positions in the D.C. Metro area!  December graduates are encouraged to look into positions Enterprise has to offer.  Management Trainee jobs will give trainees experience in customer service, sales, finance, marketing and operations.  Employees have the opportunity to get promoted from within Enterprise after being a Management Trainee.  

The Enterprise Management Internship Program offers a full-time paid internship and opportunities for growth and networking in building relationships with coworkers and customers.  Interns will learn management skill sets and how to develop marketing strategies.

The Loudoun Workforce Resource Center will be hosting a job fair on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 10 am - 1 pm at the Shenandoah Office Building, 102 Heritage Way NE in Leesburg, Virginia.  Employers from Loudoun County will be in attendance with full-time, part-time, and seasonal job openings available.  

Those attending the job fair are highly recommended to dress professionally and to bring multiple copies of their resume to hand out to employers.  The job fair presents a great opportunity for alumni and current students to meet and network with professionals in the Northern Virginia area.  In addition to attending, all attendees will be given a copy of "Turn a Job Fair Into a Job Offer" by Harry Dahlstrom.

 MedStar Health
 Patient Safety Aide 
MedStar Health's location in Washington D.C. is hiring for a Patient Safety Aide position.  Safety Aides must be able to encourage and communicate with patients while maintaining close supervision to ensure patient safety.  Other requirements include transporting/escorting patients during discharges, appointments or transfers, maintaining  cleanliness of patient rooms, attending staff meetings and more.  

Minimum qualifications include:
  • Preferred 3 months of related field experience
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program (CNA) or experience as a MNRN Rehab Care Technician preferred.  DC CNA Certification preferred.  Nursing or Allied Health student with completion of coursework in field of study preferred
  • Ability to orally communicate and perform tasks with patients

Social Impact Career Opportunities
Online Career Fair

Careero is a website that advertises social impact job fields and opportunities within those fields!  Careero is hosting an Online    Career Fair for careers in social impact fields from December 5-8.  There will be available jobs and internships in fields of social impact areas such as fighting climate change, improving education access, healthcare, reducing poverty, helping urban mobility and protecting civil liberties.  

As part of the career fair, applicants can listen to motivational talks, sign up for virtual coffee chats and drop their resumes to apply for job and internship opportunities with the most impactful social good companies in the world.  Applicants can also sign up for mentoring sessions through Careero to network and chat with professionals in hiring companies.

Ask an English Alum: Kelly Collins Ashby '97
 

Kelly Collins Ashby ’97 chose Shenandoah University because she was drawn to the size and location, as well as the energy she felt on campus. “Shenandoah is a welcoming school, with a thriving, diverse community,” said Ashby.

Ashby is an attorney at her own practice, the Law Office of Kelly C. Ashby, P.C. in Winchester, Virginia. In her position, she represents clients involved in all types of family law matters, including contested divorces, asset and debt divisions, support actions, traditional and third party custody and visitation disputes, and adoptions. She is also a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and served on the Board of Governors of the Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar from 2004 to 2008.

Prior to opening her own firm, Ashby practiced with the law firm of Buchbauer & McGuire, P.C. for eight years. She also was an attorney with the law firm of Richards, Layton & Finger in Wilmington, Delaware, from 2000 to 2003, where she litigated corporate matters relating to fiduciary duty, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions.
