THANK YOU COALITION MEMBERS!
Like we have said all along. If we speak with one voice, we will be heard.
Today the LCRA Board heard us. The board voted unanimously to delay a vote on the proposed Water Management Plan changes for one month to allow for stakeholder review of the modeled science. The vote will occur instead at the LCRA’s September board meeting.
We thank the board for their fair, balanced, and common sense action. We also thank Representative Bonnen, Representative Kolkhorst, Senator Hegar, and their staffs, Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape, Fayette County Judge Ed Janecka, Colorado County Judge Ty Prause, Wharton County Judge Phillip Spenrath, Matagorda County Judge Nate McDonald, Mills County Judge Kirk Fulk and San Saba County Judge Byron Theodosis, all of the Executive Committee members representing rural economies, agriculture and the environment, and mostly all of you who provided support over the last several months.
The stakeholder process will begin immediately. We will keep you all apprised of how you can help in the following weeks. We have the best minds in the lower Colorado River basin ready to work with the LCRA staff to better understand the implications of the proposed Water Management Plan changes and to identify areas of improvement and compromise.
We have faced two challenges together as a coalition and both times found success. Let’s stick together to make sure that water keeps flowing downstream of Longhorn Dam.
