PROJECT MANAGEMENT: If you are living, breathing, working at home or in an office, you will encounter projects that need managing. It may be an event, outing, vacation or meeting.

When coordinating a project, Walt Disney’s quote sums it up so well, “Of all the things I’ve done, the most vital is coordinating the talents of those who work for us and pointing them towards a certain goal.”

Caring for people and skillful planning are the two most important ingredients for successful project management. Today’s post is just for you! Here are my 5 Tips for Managing a Project: 

1. Identify the project
  • Put a plan and timeline in writing
  • List goals with realistic expectations
  • Set a budget
2. Select key people
  • Choose a project manager
  • Assemble a team
  • Recruit volunteers, if necessary
3. Gather needed resources
  • Possible donations
  • Purchased supplies
  • Things to make
4. Execute the plan
  • Distribute tasks
  • Review details and check in often
  • Coach, mentor and motivate
5. Review, revise and summarize
  • Ask, what went well? What could be improved?
  • Make necessary changes for next time
  • Create a brief report of your findings
