Trail News & Information

Spence Mountain Trail Project

Two more miles of trail are ready to explore at Spence!  The newest section of trail parallels Highway 140 and is best for a downhill route. A 6.5-mile loop is possible by going counter-clockwise.

Here is your guide to that route:
  • The first 2.7 miles of trail (completed last year) gradually climbs up the east side (or lake side) of Spence.
  • This trail ends on a logging road where you take a left, then proceed on a flat-to-downhill road for 1.5 miles.
  • Look for trail flagging on a tree and rocks piled by the entrance around the 4.2-mile mark. Then take a left downhill on an overgrown logging road for a third of a mile.
  • You will see some pin flags in this section where the new trail will continue this fall.
  • At the 4.5-mile mark the newest section of trail begins and descends for two miles back to the trail head.
Get out there and enjoy!
