Trail News & Information

Trail Report

The Moore Park trail system survived the mild winter very well and is looking quite lucious and green (by KF standards) on the north facing slopes.  The downside of all this growth is narrow tread width in areas but these can be addressed with monthly trail maintenance crews.

The higher alpine trails around Lake of the Woods are in great shape too.  A couple KTA members rode the Brown Mountain Trail on May 31st and encountered dry trails even at 5,700' and most of the downed trees had already been cleared!  There were a few mosquitos so bring your bug spray.

Trail Maintenance

We will be holding a trail maintenance day in Moore Park this coming Saturday, June 14th at 7:45 am.  We meet at the Gingerbread House in Moore Park and plan to head for the work site around 8:00 am and work until 11:30 am.  For those interested we head to Abbey's for lunch afterwards.  Be sure to dress for trail work:  good hiking boots (no running shoes), long pants, work gloves, hat, water and mid-morning snack.  We provide the tools.  Please let Dennis Taugher know if you will join us at

Trail Signs
With donations from a number of community members, a contribution from Friends of Moore Park, and a grant to the City of Klamath Falls from Cycle Oregon, new trail signs have been ordered!  Every officially sanctioned trail in and around Moore Park will now have Carsonite trail signs installed, to help hikers, runners, cyclists, and others navigate the 10 miles of official trails in the Moore Park trail network. The entire length of the Klamath Ridge View Trail will also have wayfinding signs installed as part of this project as well!
Many thanks to those who have contributed to help make these new trail signs possible. If you'd like to sponsor a trail sign at another KTA project, such as Spence Mountain, you can donate online.
