I hope you all had a good summer break and that the new academic year has started well. Many of you already have activities planned with us over the coming year, but please do get in touch any time to see how we might be able to help you develop action plans for Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).

FACT OF THE MONTH

Each month, we publish useful facts about the local labour market, using data from real-time advertised job vacancies. This month, we're looking at the types of careers you can get into if you study Business.

OUR SERVICE IS MULTI-AWARD WINNING IN EUROPE!

Our brokerage service has been awarded a Gold Global Best Award for the Europe region for a second consecutive time. We have been recognised for work carried out to inspire young people into STEM careers.

If you were at the East of England Careers Show in July, we hope you enjoyed the day and your students were inspired about the wide range of potential careers available. The event was our biggest yet, attracting nearly 3,500 visitors and over 200 exhibitors. Watch the highlights in our video:

Careers Fair
WOMEN IN ENGINEERING

Perkins hosted a group of budding engineers for an afternoon to celebrate National Women in Engineering Day 2016. This campaign aimed to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the career opportunities available, particularly to girls, in this exciting industry.

Apprenticeships Uncovered
MEET THE PROFESSIONALS

200 Year 8 students from Abbey College in Ramsey took part in an event to learn about careers and jobs in a wide range of sectors. Following a series of talks, the students enjoyed a networking lunch where they had the opportunity to ask for further information about different careers.

Industry Day
BUILD A BUSINESS

Groups of Year 9 and 10 students at Thomas Deacon Academy were tasked with designing a product, marketing it and pitching it to both their peers and a panel of business professionals. The enterprise challenge aims to encourage entrepreneurship and develop key skills.

>> UNIVERSITY UNCOVERED: INFORMATION FAIRS

In conjunction with the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Collaborative Outreach Network, we're hosting some information fairs for students and parents to find out more about university life.

What to expect: The events will allow visitors to pick up information about the benefits of Higher Education; talk to local employers about potential graduate careers; find out how to apply and write successful personal statements; gain an insight into student life with tips on budgeting, time management, living away from home, student finance and more.

Free to attend, the information fairs will take place on the following dates/times:

- Thursday 17th November, 12:00 - 7:00pm
Central Square, Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough PE1 1NT
- Thursday 24th November, 5:30 - 8:00pm
Ely Cathedral Conference Centre, Palace Green, Ely CB7 4EW
- Wednesday 30th November, 5:30 - 8:00pm
The Boathouse Business Centre, 1 Harbour Square, Wisbech PE13 3BH

Posters will be delivered to schools over the next few weeks.

>> OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS
GET AHEAD IN BUSINESS:
24-26 OCTOBER

A 3-day enhancement programme for Year 12 and 13 business students and budding entrepreneurs. This programme gives the opportunity to experience and explore the diverse options open to those who choose to study business at degree level.

PETERBOROUGH STEM FESTIVAL:
1ST OCTOBER

The Peterborough STEM Festival aims to inspire young people and encourage them to consider a career within digital, whether as a coder, writer, marketeer or designer. Includes a range of exciting workshops, demos/exhibits and key speakers.
