Engaging with Others
by Brian Kaylor
Today marks a shift in my relationship with Churchnet as I expand my duties and assume a new job title: Communications & Engagement Leader. With this new role, I will continue my past responsibilities and start some new efforts. I am excited to continue to work with an innovative team seeking to think strategically about denominational life in the 21st Century. Churchnet's first priority is to serve churches.
My work at Churchnet over the past 11 years has opened many doors for which I remain grateful. I co-chaired the Communications Committee for the Celebration of a New Baptist Covenant (and met former President Jimmy Carter) and now serve on the Communications Advisory Committee of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA). Last year, my work with the BWA led me to Jamaica where I helped lead a communications training seminar for Jamaican Baptist church leaders (at the church I am pictured in front of in the above photo).
In a few days I will be heading to Izmir, Turkey to once again gather with Baptists from around the world for worship, fellowship, ministry planning, and dialogue. We are made better when we engage with those from different backgrounds and cultures. I am looking forward to joining Baptists from 59 countries for the BWA Annual Gathering as we meet in two of the seven cities from the book of Revelation. Look for reports from Turkey in next month's email and next week at Ethics Daily.
