Managing the Debt Drain - the critical issues for small business

The Christmas rush is over, the Business Activity Statement is due, and payments slow down with a dip in consumer spending. You might be ok but your customers could be under pressure and often whoever wields the most influence gets paid first. Read More

What employers need to know about FBT 2017

We know that no one likes to pay tax and certainly no more tax than they should.  But very few people want to be on the wrong side of an Australian Taxation Office (ATO) audit where fees and penalties are paid for neglecting your obligations.  Read More

With Tara Starr

Tabitha started with Champion's as one of our cadets in February.

This month we get know Tara  little bit better.

Can you tell us a bit about your role at Champions?

As a cadet accountant I help out with workpapers for a variety of different entities, complete some basic individuals tax returns, help out the admin team and most importantly make sure the cookie jar is full.

How would you describe Champion's as a firm?

In the whole two months I've worked at Champion's I have found everyone to be extremely friendly and passionate about their work.  No matter what their rank or experience, everyone is treated with the same respect, ensuring that I feel comfortable approaching anyone from the postman to Mr Champion himself.  This makes Champion's feel less like a business firm - making it easy to wake up for work every morning.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love to play netball, bake and walk my dog.

What is the last book that you read?

"13 Reasons Why" by Jack Ascher.  I've read it about 8 times, maybe 3 years ago in English and German purely because I'm really picky with my books.  So suggestions are welcome!

What is your favourite movie?

Either 'Remember the Titans' or 'The Italian Job' (I'll watch anything with Jason Statham)

What is your favourite holiday destination?
Switzerland!  You can't beat the snow there.

If you were stranded on a deserted island what is the one thing you could not do without?

A pen and paper!  Whether I'm drawing the world's greatest stick figure or writing down my life plan - a pen and paper will definitely keep me sane and occupied for awhile.

financial independence, and the lifestyle you want except

yourself." - Haisah Aisya Joohary
