Happy March!

Despite the lingering cold, we have been steadily working on organizing a Community Panel and a few Youth initiatives for this month.

On Saturday, March 14, 2015 we will be hosting a discussion on civic engagement, race relations, and politics called Voices of the Unheard: The Chinese Canadian Experience in Politics. This Community Panel is part of our follow up action in regards to the Toronto Sun's editorial cartoon of Olivia Chow. We would like to provide an opportunity for the community to discuss the larger issues at play and possible strategies/tools that are necessary to support our community to participate in civic engagement and politics.
We are excited to announce our 3 featured panelists: Councillor Wong-TamKaren Sun and Brian Chang!

Make sure to register at This is a FREE event.  Light refreshments and translation in Mandarin will be provided.

We also have a few youth initiatives in the works: (1) Newcomer Youth Access to Recreations Study (2) CCNCTO Youth Discussion Series. More details below.

Want to get more involved? Consider volunteering or becoming a CCNCTO member! Email us for more details. Keep up to date with us on our Facebook page.

This year, the CCNCTO Youth Discussion Series is going Mobile
We are looking to expand our outreach to youth and to build new partnerships with various youth groups. Starting this month, we will be scheduling either a one-time workshop or a series of workshops at the convenience of the group's availability. We will come to your location and bring necessary materials.
These workshops are designed for Chinese Canadian youth to share their experiences on culture, identity, gender and discrimination. We would like to provide a safe space where these often challenging topics/themes can be openly discussed. We want to encourage youth to develop new perspectives and ideas on various issues and to think critically about how these factors impact their lives. For an outline of the workshops, please visit:
If you are a youth group representative or would like more info, please get in touch with facilitator Ann Yu at
