Thank you to all of our Members- Active, Sustaining, and Emeritus- who have kept in touch as I update our databases and look to garner feedback about the JLGS & our upcoming Centennial! If you have not yet received an email or call from me, expect one soon!
Though the New Member Project is currently on hold due to current restrictions, the redesign and organization of the Mariposa Center Library & Homework Room at Girls, Inc. will still happen!
This project will create a more inviting, functional space for the 35 young girls currently involved with the center.
While our new members await the "all clear" to get into the center and get started, they are still busy purchasing items and developing their plan.
Please see below for the various ways you can contribute.
A special THANK YOU to Sustainer Craig Carr
who has already made a generous donation!
Lastly, we'd love for you to check out our latest YouTube video
, where we share information about becoming a JLGS member!
Let us know what you think, and please share with prospective new members!
For the time being, we'll be making a shift to virtual information sessions.
eep an eye on your email and our Facebook Page
for upcoming sessions.
In this strange time, the Junior League of Greater Springfield is able to spread positivity and encouragement. While Covid-19 has restricted us in certain ways, it has inspired our league to adapt and think outside of the box for ways to continue to serve our community.
JLGS is excited and proud to feature members who are essential workers who are working on the frontlines during this time. We were so proud to feature Maura for our first share! If you are interested in being featured, please send me a photo and summary of your position. We are also excited to begin featuring "Why I joined" videos. Our VP of Finance, Tracy provided a great video on Instagram explaining her reasons why! If you would like to participate in that, please send me a 60 second video.
Sharing JLGS posts on Instagram and Facebook has been a great way for the League to recieve additional donations. During this difficult economic time, while many may not be in a position to donate financially, they may have things like diapers, gift cards, games, puzzles, etc.. that they are able to donate. Through public asks like this, our League has been successful in getting many donations for Help Our Kids and Square One.
Lastly, to brighten spirits at the Soldier's Home and VA hospital, we have sent posters thanking our Veterans! Thank you to Jill for arranging this at the VA!
Please see our new Youtube channel that was created by Jackie! It will provide a lot of great information and will incorporate special videos and projects from members, like a great Yoga session from Maura!

Dues are due May 1st for the upcoming 2020-2021 league year. With the current situation, there may be a slight delay cashing checks as the Finance team is trying to limit the trips to the post office and bank. Thank you for your understanding.

The Community Council is still working to serve our community despite these challenging times and disruption to our normal league schedule.
One of our main focuses this month was figuring out how to shift gears to help the community in this time of great need. To that end, we have delivered meals to the Ronald McDonald House to help the families there keep their spirts up. We also delivered dinner to the Holyoke Police Department to help support those serving on our front lines.
In these times we also became aware that domestic violence is on the rise. Our mission has always been to support the women and children in the community, and so we pulled together bags of critical supplies including toiletries, snacks, and even some toys and games to bring to Help Our Kids and Square One.
Our members have also pulled together supply donations for Square One to help mothers in need who may be challenged to find critical children's supplies at this time such as diapers and food.
One project that has remained the same though despite all of the shifts in our focus is our annual scholarship. We have had multiple applicants and the scholarship committee is currently reviewing all of the applications. We are looking forward to announcing the winner shortly later this month!
As always, if you have any other thoughts or suggestions on how we could be helping the community, or if you have anything you'd like help donating, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at
