SDG Academy Kicks Off Book Club with Jeffrey Sachs
Each month in 2021, SDSN President Jeffrey Sachs will host a live interview with the author of a recently-published work that examines the most important topics for humanity, including sustainable development, social justice, and more. The Book Club can be found on edX.org, and interviews will also be live streamed on the SDG Academy YouTube channel
SDSN Launches SDSN Europe
SDSN has launched SDSN Europe to mobilize and coordinator the knowledge and science across SDSN networks in support of a sustainable and resilient European Recovery. SDSN Europe will leverage the work on the Six Transformations and will support the alignment of major European processes with the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement. 
Coming Soon: SDSN Pakistan
SDSN's Networks Strategy Council approves the establishment of a National SDSN in Pakistan, hosted by the Institute for Global Health and Development at the Aga Khan University. The Institute champions interdisciplinary research and action on major global health challenges and the SDGs.
SDSN Publishes a Response to Recent Criticisms Against the SDGs
In response to an article published in Nature that argues the SDGs do not avoid environmental damage, the SDSN published on 18 January a Working Paper which describes the major issues related to the framing, method, and proposed implications of this work.

  • The FABLE Consortium spoke about its most recent report on the Duke University podcast, The Leading Voices in Food.
  • Colombia’s Master's in Development Practice (MDP) Program welcomed a cohort of 60 African Heritage and Indigenous students.
  • The DDPP USA team continues to make waves with their model to reach net-zero and net-negative CO2 emissions by 2050 which was recently published in AGU Advances, referenced in a Princeton University study on pathways and impacts. The DDPP model also served as the premise for Massachusetts' 2050 Roadmap
  • SDSN Switzerland held an open forum to strengthen the support of Swiss economic, scientific, and civil society actors towards an ambitious new Strategy on Sustainable Development.
  • The Global Schools Program, an SDSN Youth Initiative, published its Year in Review and welcomed its first cohort of Global Schools Advocates in 2020.
  • SDSN Belgium in cooperation with the Antwerp Management School, Louvain School of Management, and the University of Antwerp, and with the support of the Belgian Federal Institute for Sustainable Development, issued the SDG Barometer 2020 highlighting whether or not civil society organizations, companies, government, and educational institutions implement and comply with the SDGs.
  • 2020 was a big year for SDSN's SDGs Today! The team recaps their year in a new blog post.
  • SDSN and its work on the SDG Index has recently been cited in three major studies produced by the European Commission and others.
  • SDSN Leadership Council Member Pavel Kabat was named the new HFSPO Secretary-General.
  • European Think Tank Group (with authors from DIE & IDDRI) in cooperation with SDSN Germany, issued a paper "Mind the Gap? Sketching the relevance of the 2030 Agenda for the Green Deal and other key EU policies in the context of the COVID-19 crisis".
