The University of Tokyo established the Center for the Global Commons (CGC) in August 2020 to support the sustainable management of the Global Commons in line with the “Planetary Boundaries” framework. The CGC seeks to equip stakeholders with the knowledge, policy framing, processes, and tools to halt and reverse the degradation of Global Commons.
The sustainable management of the Global Commons requires better data and metrics to guide better policies. To this end, the SDSN and its partners are preparing a second edition Global Commons Stewardship (GCS) Index, to be launched at the 2022 Tokyo Forum in December. We invite comments and feedback on the index through our public consultation, open until October 24th, 2022.
