Dear <<First Name>>,

WELCOME TO STRATFORD ORIGINAL LATEST NEWSLETTER!

Further to the November 2014 ballot when Stratford businesses voted in favour of creating a Business Improvement District (BID), Stratford Original has started its operations in April 2015.

Since going live, we’ve started the ground work to put our key early projects in place. Amongst the main highlights:
  • We've recruited an interim and permanent BID Manager
  • We've incorporated the BID Company and run the first meetings of the newly established Stratford Original Board
  • We are meeting all the relevant local stakeholders to build sound relationships and put Stratford Town Centre on the map
So that the BID can start delivering additional benefits to thE Stratford business community as quickly as possible, we are already working on some money-saving as follows:
  • Tenders have now been received and are being assessed for the delivery of the Waste Management & Recycling scheme
  • Scoping out of the best value approach to a Joint Procurement Scheme which will deliver direct savings to all participating businesses
  • Street Wardens Scheme, the first sub-group meeting has been held to establish the type of service businesses would like to see delivered
  • Assessing additional services which will deliver further benefits to local businesses
BID Levy Demands | Don't delay it, Pay it today!
The first step for the implementation of the improvements highlighted in the BID proposal is for the London Borough of Newham to collect the levy on behalf of Stratford Original from all businesses within the BID boundary.

It was brought to our attention that some businesses have not yet paid in full their levy demand. In order to avoid the issuing of a summons and a £175 charge on top of the outstanding levy, we have negotiated with the Local Authority to extend the deadline for payment until Thursday 25th June 2015.

To find out how you can pay the BID levy, please visit Newham Council website under the Business Rates section. Remember to quote the property reference number or and that cheques shall be made payable to the London Borough of Newham. For further information please visit http://www.newham.gov.uk/Pages/Services/How-to-pay-your-business-rates.aspx

50 years of Newham Event | Prizes & Opportunities
The London Borough of Newham is celebrating its first 50 years by holding street parties this Summer.

On Saturday 1st August at the Grove and Sunday 2nd August at East Village there will be food, entertainment, music, information points, free wellbeing sessions etc. The organisers are currently looking for local businesses to get involved in the events by sponsoring prizes and taking part in the community celebration.

If you would like to donate a prize or are interested in supplying food and flowers for the events, please feel free to contact us.

How you can get involved
All businesses that were eligible to vote in the BID ballot may become members of the Stratford Original BID company and are welcome to stand and vote in Board elections at the AGM which is now planned for September 2015

Company members may subsequently nominate themselves for directorships or sit on one of the BID’s three theme groups:
  1. Making the Town Centre Feel Safer and More Welcoming
  2. Doing Business
  3. Promoting Stratford
These are sub-groups to the Board and are formed from BID members. The Board manages the BID team whose role is to deliver the projects and services as set out in the BID proposal.

Please get in touch with us if you’d like to get involved on 0208 555 7065 or email info@stratfordoriginal.com. Alternatively, you can visit www.stratfordoriginal.com for more information.
