Of Leaps, Baby Steps, and #BlessedBlah
This coming December will mark four years since I took a giant leap of faith and opened my bespoke BrainCurves private practice in NYC.
When I set out to create this practice (with a deep appreciation that our mind-body-brain-soul-spirit etc. are all inextricably intertwined) I took a huge dive into the unknown. Sometimes the voice of self-doubt still pops up (as only a human voice of self-doubt can!) but it’s dimmer and dimmer as I continue this journey and learn to trust myself more fully - with the help of extraordinarily supportive people in my life.

I honestly could not be more grateful and feel more blessed to create a space where clients can learn to use fear as fuel, that they are not broken, that self-care is not selfish, that the narratives/stories we tell ourselves can either enhance our lives or add suffering, that to feel anything might be scary - but that emotions are our true compass, to trust that reaching out for help is the absolute strongest thing one could ever do.

Thank you for the privilege of your vulnerability, the gift of choosing me to collaborate with you in your growth.
Welcome Sydney to the BrainCurves Family!
I want to officially welcome Sydney Faith Rose, MSW who will be an extraordinary addition to the practice. Sydney is joining the practice part-time to learn more about the BrainCurves Methodology in Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Biofeedback.

Sydney offers over 10 years of experience bringing mindfulness-based interventions to individuals and groups who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and chronic pain.

Reading & Writing Life
What I'm Reading Now
My amazing friend Jen’s book: 'On Being Human: A Memoir of Waking Up, Living Real, and Listening Hard'

"An inspirational memoir about how Jen's hearing loss taught her to listen fiercely. On Being Human is a celebration of happiness and self-realization over darkness and doubt and how to reject the all-too-common belief of “I am not enough.”

'Managing the Motherload: A Guide to Creating More Ease, Space, and Grace in Motherhood'

Meditation guide and mother of five, Rebekah "Bex" Borucki, offers her five-part system of managing the demands of motherhood and the need for self-care and stress management - including her signature 4-minute meditations.

While this book is geared towards mothers, I think it would benefit anyone who is a caretaker or guide in life.

What I'm WRITING Now (!!!)
That's right, I am writing a book! And it is a dream come true. A culmination of so much of what I’ve been teaching, learning, and practicing both personally and professionally for over a decade.

My book will touch on the neuroscience and practice of mindfulness meditation. It is one part 'Why practice Mindfulness', and one part a ready-made workbook of 5-minute actionable mindful practices.

I feel so lucky, but change, growth, and writing is not easy. And it’s okay to feel two or even more things at once. It’s even healthy. Sometimes we feel we aren’t allowed to feel blah if we are in fact blessed with so much, and vice-versa.

One feeling/experience never cancels out the others. They can coexist, and we will thrive more as we learn to embrace and hold space for both.

What's going on in your life that makes you feel both BLESSED and BLAH? Let's be #blessedblah together!
