June is Migraine and Headache Awareness Month
*MIGRAINE IS A PAIN IN THE NECK, BUT IT’S NOT IN YOUR HEAD!*
As a migraine thriver, during Migraine Awareness Month, I'd like to create awareness of this very real neurological phenomenon that is NOT just a headache! It’s a full body experience and can severely limit functioning.
Treatment is multi-modal and takes a village! Even a psychologist can help: NOT because migraine is not real (or just “in your head”), because it is VERY real. Discomfort, pain, and decreased functionality are stressors that augment an already sensitized brain.
In many cases, stress can act as a trigger (NOT a cause) for a migraine attack/many attacks and then the cycle becomes vicious.
