June is Migraine and Headache Awareness Month

*MIGRAINE IS A PAIN IN THE NECK, BUT IT’S NOT IN YOUR HEAD!* 

As a migraine thriver, during Migraine Awareness Month, I'd like to create awareness of this very real neurological phenomenon that is NOT just a headache! It’s a full body experience and can severely limit functioning.

Treatment is multi-modal and takes a village! Even a psychologist can help: NOT because migraine is not real (or just “in your head”), because it is VERY real. Discomfort, pain, and decreased functionality are stressors that augment an already sensitized brain.

In many cases, stress can act as a trigger (NOT a cause) for a migraine attack/many attacks and then the cycle becomes vicious.

My own healing has been, and continues to be, a journey consisting of CBT, biofeedback, essential oils, myofascial-release massage, Botox injections every ten weeks, and some other pharm support. Also: an A-team of professionals and personal loves for whom I have the utmost gratitude. 

It may not seem like it now, but THRIVING is to be had.

Migraine Awareness is important to me since I am one of the 36 million Americans who experience this often-debilitating neurological phenomenon.

For that reason, I am presenting BrainCurve’s Migraine Surthrivel Hacks, which are my personal tried and true go-to’s for helping to soothe mind, body, and brain during Acute Migraine Attack & for Overall Migraine Wellness.
 

Chronic pain affects the entirety of our lives, including every relationship we are in: friends, lovers, family, colleagues, and otherwise. It is ever present, in everything that we do or everything that we had hoped to do. It can feel so hard to live big when pain pervades our mind, body, and brain. 

In this course, Dr. Jen draws on research, anecdotal, as well as very personal pain experiences to explore ways in which thriving with pain is more than possible.
