This is our third newsletter related to the manufacturing sector in the San Diego-Imperial Region. How time flies!

As always, our goal is to improve student’s success in the labor market through educator engagement where we will aim to update, expand, and align K-16 career educational pathways. Here, you'll find news, resources for distance learning, best practices, upcoming events, industry-related virtual panels or tours, and job opportunities for your students!

NOW HIRING:
Autodesk Student Engagement Ambassador Program

Overview: This position is a part time opportunity for students currently enrolled in University or Community College in the US. Position will end in November 2020 with the possibility of renewal.
Pay: $25 hour and will work approximately an average of 5 hours per week remotely and at the campus (if campus is closed, work remotely)
Responsibilities: Promote awareness and support the use of Fusion 360 on campus
  • Working knowledge of Fusion360
  • Deliver on-campus training and workshops
  • Promote awareness of Autodesk Programs such as Ambassador Hub and Certifications
  • Provide technical support to students & faculty
  • Engage with campus Student Chapters of various organizations like IDSA, ASME, etc
  • Engage with student clubs like 3D Design/Maker Clubs
  • Engage with faculty & classes who are interested in 3D Design, CAM, SIM and Generative Design as a component of the coursework
  • Support events on campus and occasionally offsite (with travel reimbursement) as needed
  • Document and promote events on Social Media
  • Be the conduit for feedback from both faculty and students
  • Typical Departments: Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Design Technology, Machine Tool Technology
  • Work on a special projects and share results
  • Hold weekly meeting with manager

American Welding Society (AWS) has offered to give K-16 faculty trial access (for 30 days) to their Digital Library, Online Educational Library and Welding Curriculum. The goal is to give you the opportunity to try out their classes to either augment our curriculum resources or incorporate into the curricula. Our sector is working on group discount pricing, and the possibility of helping offset some of the costs. That said, we'd need to figure out if you'd want to incorporate it into your class. With lots of classes being online in the Fall, now is the time to consider it. Sign up here: link
