Dear community and friends,
It's that time again when we want to give you an update on what's going on with us.
Adjusting to allowing clients back into the clinic has been going well, and it's been feeling good to see so many familiar faces again. We missed you all!
We are continuing our current COVID protocol. It's been working well keeping everyone as safe as possible. So far, we had only one team member contract the virus. Yay!
WHAT'S NEW WITH OUR TEAM?
A few months ago we welcomed a couple new team members, Vashti and Thuy Anh. Please check out their bios on our team page and say hello the next time you're in the clinic.
We are excited that Erika is growing into a leadership/managerial position at the clinic, and that Jasmine is in the process of applying to vet school. Jada continues her studies at PCC, and Lucia has found her passion working with underserved communities and is transitioning out. You will still see her occasionally, when she is filling in. For the summer months we have also welcomed back Jacqueline, who is now an undergraduate at OSU and continues to work towards her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
We are continuing our relationship with Benson HS by providing experiences and opportunities to enter the veterinary field, and we currently have three Benson graduates in the clinic (Erika, Jada, and Jaqueline).
If you are wondering how you can support these young women and their careers, look out for some announcements later this year.
I myself am very much enjoying the Under The Eagle's Wing Mentorship Program I have been enrolled in since February. This program has allowed me to find more community and is supporting me in deepening connections to my ancestral roots and the medicine that I am here to share. Because last year's sabbatical felt so nourishing to my soul, I have decided to take an extended leave again in September in order to travel to my ancestral lands.
Similar to last year, we will not be scheduling any appointments in September, but the clinic will be open with shortened hours for picking up medications and supplements. Please call ahead and watch for social media updates on Facebook and Instagram!
Please make sure your pet has a valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient-Relationship, at least throughout the month of September (meaning, your pet must have had a physical exam at our clinic within the last 12 months), otherwise we cannot legally refill any prescriptions.
With the ongoing nationwide shortage of veterinarians, we have not hired a relief veterinarian for September. If your pet needs urgent care during that time, please take them to one of the many emergency places in our area. For a list of clinics, please visit our website.
We wish you all a great summer,
Dr. Conny & Your Hawthorne Vet Team
