DRAGON F4 - NEW DRIVER FOR THE SEASON FINALE AT YAS MARINA
Chinese Renaultsport Academy driver Sun Yue Yang bolstered the Dragon F4 driver line up for the final round of the UAE F4 championship at the entertaining Yas Marina South circuit.

With the first visit of the season to the shorter 2.35km layout of the famous Yas Marina circuit this new layout was welcomed by all drivers and provided some thrilling battles throughout the four races.

Sun Yue Yang qualified 7th for Race 1 and soon made amends from a poor start overtaking 5 cars during the 20 minute sprint race bringing home the Dragon F4 Tatuus in 6th place. For Race 2 the first reverse grid race of the weekend Sun started from 5th position and unfortunately once again suffered a sluggish start however like race 1 showed real determination and made up several positions with excellent overtaking manoeuvres to finish in 5th position. Race 3 featured an early start on Saturday morning with Sun Yue Yang once again starting in 7th position however this time making a brilliant start and being involved with an on track duel with several cars resulting in a solid 7th placed finish after running as high as 5th in the early laps.
Race 4 was the final race of the championship and with the reverse grid format Sun lined up in P4 at the start. Making a respectable start and battling for the first 2 laps with Motopark drivers Leonard Hoogenboom and Jonathan Aberdein the racing was suspended with a 5 lap safety car period to retrieve the damaged Motopark car of Logan Sergeant, when racing resumed Sun Yue Yang was in the thick of the action and unfortunately suffered damage to the front wing requiring a pit stop to replace the front nose cone.
Sun Yue Yang now heads into the European Formula Renault series and following his first race weekend in cars is now well prepared for the challenge this competitive series brings. Dragon F4 are pleased to have been entrusted with the development of two rising stars this season and plans for a 4 car entry in the 2017-2018 championship are well underway.
