Enjoy a night of poetry, storytelling, music and song as P.J. Brady recounts the life and times of Patrick Kavanagh. A native of County Cavan, P.J. Brady is an actor and poet and has lived in Dublin since 1979. He studied Drama at the Brendan Smith Theater Academy and The Oscar Theater School of Acting (1994 -1996). He’s a member of the Society of Irish Playwrights.

Children's book festival 2016
Children's book festival is celebrated across Ireland during the month of October. Did you know 660 local school children are visiting our 8 library branches this month to meet authors and hear all about reading, writing and the importance of books?
We have baby book clubs running in 5 libraries also as the love of books can be fostered from the earliest of ages.
Pick up a copy of Inis reading guide in any dlr Library. Inis has 87 pages of book recommendations for ages from 0 to young adult. The lovely cover for the current edition is designed by author and illustrator Chris Judge.

Come along to hear excerpts and information by Tim who has 18 years experience on RTÉ Lyric FM, sharing his enthusiasm and deep knowledge of music with audiences.

Science Week 2016
dlr Libraries have some great events lined up for Science Week 2016. Physics Busking returns to dlr LexIcon on Sat 12 November 11am-4pm, if you missed this great day last year, come along to check it out, there is something for all ages. Also in dlr LexIcon we have a meet the animals session with Animal Magic on 17 Nov at 3-5pm, along with numerous class visits for local schools on topics as far ranging as reuse/recycling, the physics of juggling, experiments, sustainability in design and much more.

We have a great range of tech courses running in the LexIcon Lab this autumn & winter. From minecraft to coding, animation, gaming, 3D printing, drop in maker evenings, get started with Raspberry Pi and Arduino as well as a global Children's Designathon, there is something for all ages.

Dojo Con 2016
DojoCon 2016 is the annual Global CoderDojo Community Conference, which aims to attract mentors, parents and interested parties from Dojo’s worldwide. The theme of this year’s conference is CoderDojo Connects: Smarter Tech, Smarter Living and it takes place 21, 22 & 23 October at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire with some events at dlr LexIcon for the DojoThon and the People’s Park for Dojo Camp!
