Exhibition & Talks: Easter Rising


The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland holds a special position in the historical events of the Easter Rising. Find out about some of the leading Surgeons and Insurgents involved in the Easter Rising with the exhibition on display in dlr LexIcon, Level 3, from May 3 - June 2.
Two talks will take place during this exhibition in dlr LexIcon Studio: May 11 at 7.00pm by RCSI Archivist Meadhbh Murphy and May 24 at 7.00pm by Archivist Pádraig Allen on the St John Ambulance and the Easter Rising.

Carnation Theatre for Bealtaine


Follow the women of 1916: the dispatchers, the doctors, the gunrunners, the nurses and the smugglers. Sing! Dance! Remember!

These performances are open to all but are particularly geared towards older people affected by dementia and their carers. The performances last up to 1 hour max. Part of Bealtaine,  a month when we celebrate creativity as we age. Free events.

Shiva Productions presents Angels in the Park II. This is a powerful, funny and inspiring series of five brand new 10-minute plays by five emerging Irish writers, featuring talented Irish actors, exploring themes of mortality, family and the human need to connect. Audiences will be led to different locations around the LexIcon grounds. The show will go on come rain or shine, so pack a picnic rug or portable chair and a brolly!

dlr Library Voices presents, author Laura Bates, founder of the Everyday Sexism Project which exists to catalogue instances of sexism experienced on a day to day basis. Her new book, Girl Up, is a hilarious, jaunty and bold exposé of the truth about the pressures exerted on women who are told: ‘that’s not for girls’; ‘take it as a compliment’;  ‘beauty’s on the inside.’ Well, Laura is here to tell you something different.

'Me, my selfie & I': Art Workshops for children

Series of hands on practical workshops with visual artist Claire Halpin on the theme of Self Portraits. Each week participants will explore Self Portraits through looking at famous artists through the ages and contemporary artists to discover different ways of reflecting ourselves in a range of different materials and techniques including drawing, painting, collage.
