Babies Love Books

Did you know dlr Libraries have a book gifting scheme for babies and young children? Every child born in the county is entitled to collect a free book bag at their local library!

The book bag contains either an English or Irish language book, an information leaflet about the scheme as well as tips and suggestions for reading to babies and young children. It also contains an invitation to join the library so that baby and family can enjoy many more colourful board books, picture books, cds, dvds, audio and e-books to suit all tastes, interests and age ranges, all for free. The dlr Library branch network is a wonderful resource for parents, minders, grandparents and all children with many libraries providing weekly story-time sessions for young children, parent and toddler groups and very popular baby book clubs.

Mohsin Hamid in conversation with Hugh Linehan

Pavilion Theatre
Tuesday 28 February, 8pm
Tickets €12/10

Mohsin Hamid, author of international bestseller, "The Reluctant Fundamentalist", will visit Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire on Tuesday 28 February. This author visit should whet the appetite for Mountains to Sea dlr Book Festival which follows in March.

"Exit West" is Hamid's new novel. In a city swollen by refugees but still mostly at peace, or at least not yet openly at war, Saeed and Nadia share a cup of coffee, and he makes her smile. A few days later they go for dinner, and over time they share many more meals. They try not to notice the sound of bombs getting closer every night, the radio announcing new laws, the public executions.
