It's Not Just an Art Class!
Sharing my studio with dozens of pencil artists every week is one of my favorite parts of teaching, as I am introduced to a "mixed bag" of colorful individuals.  I have talked with a dentist, teacher, scientist, engineer, human rights activist, and tattoo artist all in one evening!

Because of our career diversity, we are all continually being introduced to ideas and events that wouldn't normally cross our paths.
This stuff is too good too keep to ourselves!  So now the Beech Tree Buzz will be sharing on a regular basis some of the more curious and informative experiences we have had here at the Beech.
Enjoy!  It's not just an art class!
What started as a science experiment for her children, has become a passion for Beatriz Swanson. The expense of online monarch caterpillars persuaded   Beatriz to research other options of how they could witness the metamorphosis of caterpillars into monarch butterflies.

By growing milkweed in their yard (the only plant monarchs will lay their eggs on and feed from), and nurturing the eggs and caterpillars in her home, Beatriz was able to facilitate the growth and release of over 250 monarchs last year- some of them here at
Beech Tree Studio!
Now Beatriz encourages others to grow milkweed in order to help build up the dwindling number of monarchs, and she often shares milkweed seeds to get them started.

An Art Beat Away Retreat 2016

Amy will be sharing her technique of creating soft landscapes with a dramatic affect by using the combination of colored pencils and graphite powder.  Come for the day, or stay for the whole weekend!

To purchase Christmas Cards from the 2015 workshop, contact  25 cards of original cp artwork/ $10
