Greetings from the Madison Early Music Festival

Get Excited for MEMF 2016

As we mentioned in our previous newsletter, the 2016 Madison Early Music Festival dates and theme have been determined. Shakespeare 400: An Elizabethan Celebration will take place from July 9-16, 2016. There are plenty of opportunities to brush up on your Shakespearean knowledge between now and next July!

Hack Shakespeare at UW-Continuing Studies is a great way to experience Shakespeare in a variety of engaging ways, whether it's online, on stage, or in workshops. One event of note coming up soon is the Shakespearience Weekend from September 10-14, 2015. This long weekend in Spring Green, Wisconsin includes incredible performances at the beautiful outdoor Up-the-Hill Theater and intimate indoor Touchstone Theater, a behind-the-scenes look at American Players Theatre, in-depth lectures and conversations, and a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. Click here for more information.

Another wonderful resource we recently learned of is called Understanding Shakespeare. This online platform connects digital texts from the Folger Shakespeare Library with articles on JSTOR. You can use the text of Shakespeare’s plays to quickly navigate into the scholarship written about them—line by line. Every play written by Shakespeare is now available.

We hope you'll check out the above websites for all things Shakespeare!
