Antoine Mountain is Back on Top

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

To make way for the new Doppelmayr quad-lift, we began removing the pre-existing chair lifts. With 17 towers on the triple lift and 14 on the double, it took a lot of man power and the assistance of heavy machinery to bring down all 31 towers and remove the concrete bases. These towers will be replaced with 11 new towers and one lift that will carry the same up hill skier capacity that the previous 2 lifts would have carried. Visit our Twitter page to see a video of one of the towers being removed.

Eight of the eleven concrete foundations have been completed and within the next couple of weeks the additional three bases will be formed at the top of the mountain as well as the base and return stations. The new lift will give Antoine Mountain a larger, safer surface to ski. The base and return station are currently being built in Salt Lake City Utah. All 11 towers and sheaves trains are being manufactured and assembled in Québec, and the chairs are also being assembled off-site. Site engineering and manufacturing is taking place in Salt Lake City, Québec, and Calgary.

CLEARING

The bush hog was instrumental in order to clear the area at the top of the mountain to make room for the new lift. We have now redesigned the top for even more enhanced views with better and greater access to all 11 runs. All runs have been maintained over the 10 year period, but this fall the runs will be cut with a John Deere 4 Wheel Drive and a 4-wheel tractor, with a 10 ft rotary cutter attachment. In addition, all tree lines will be cut with a special rotary bush hog.

NEW BUILDING

Our brand new, state of the art, 7500 sq. ft building is designed to house the rentals and ski school, 3500 sq. ft of retail, as well as 2 groomers, a tractor, and mountain support equipment. We are currently completing the foundation for the end of September and the framing structure by mid October.

CHALET

The chalet has been well-maintained over the course of the last 14 years. We’ve removed the pre-existing shingled roof (7,000 sq. ft), resurfaced the roof with plywood and installed a Titanium ice and water shield and finished it with a Vicwest metal roof system. We’re currently painting the exterior and replacing damaged exterior siding, replacing the main lower deck boards and railing, as well as refurbishing and staining the complete upper deck. For the interior we are currently repairing all necessary dry wall and applying a primer coat.

NEW WEBSITE

Antoine Mountain is working hard with 9 Lives Design to complete our full scale website for October 2014. The updated site will include the ability to purchase lift tickets and merchandise through our online store! It will also include employment information, allowing you to join our team within the 'contact us' segment and attach your resume. When completed you will have information on facilities services, and an interactive map of the 11 runs!
