News features for postdocs, by postdocs!
We think UW postdocs are pretty awesome - and so does Science Magazine! They recently featured UW Ecologist and founder of #BlackinMarineScience, Dr. Tiara Moore in an article showing how black scientists have been confronting racism by building communities and holding supportive discussions on the challenges they face in academia. Follow Dr Moore on twitter!
Another Postdoc at UW has developed an awesome citizen science app that allows anyone to determine if they think the pediatric brain images they see are real, or artifacts because the kid moved in the imager.

Featuring information and workshops that foster diversity and equity

Are you interviewing for new Positions? There's a lot to consider in the decision of where to go, including how your potential institution handles diversity, equity, and inclusion. You shouldn't want to work at a place that doesn't care about DEI. However, some institutions pay lip-service to issues relating to DEI without attempting to make meaningful changes, and it's difficult to determine whether this occurs when you're interviewing. If you need some help in probing whether your next institution does care, read this article for tips on what to look for and what to ask your interviewers!

Postdoc Union Bargaining New Contract. Our union began bargaining over our second contract on Friday, Nov 6 2020. Our bargaining committee developed a list of Initial Bargaining Demands based on the results of the Postdoc Bargaining Survey. We held planning meetings and bargaining sessions mid-December, and are still in the process of bargaining.

Please help us by taking a moment and adding your name to our list of bargaining demands along with Postdocs all over campus. You can learn more about the bargaining process and get involved by emailing uaw4121@uaw4121.org.
