GS1 EPCIS Approved as an ISO Standard
EPCIS 1.1 will be published soon as an official ISO/IEC Standard, named as “ISO/IEC 19987 Information technology -- EPC Information services – Specification”.

EPCIS is a GS1 Standard that enables trading partners to share information about the physical movement and status of products as they travel throughout the supply chain – from business to business and ultimately to consumers. It helps answer the “what, where, when and why” questions to meet consumer and regulatory demands for accurate and detailed product information.

It is mostly used as a common platform for tracking events data as capture by RFID or barcoding.  In Singapore, GS1 has and is working with SIMTech to promote the use of EPCIS which SIMTech has developed using GS1 Standard.

Example of local GS1 EPCIS deployment is LHT pallet leasing & tracking system.
