GS1 SmartSearch: the new name for GTIN+ on the web
We have recently renamed GTIN+ on the web to GS1 SmartSearch. The new name is focused on the customer benefit and is meaningful, short and simple. The standard was released in June 2015 and is currently being piloted by Brazil, France, Hong Kong, Poland, Netherlands and UK, with close interest from Germany and US.

Our GS1 SmartSearch standard and guideline (previously called "GTIN+ on the web") allows businesses to benefit from:
  • Better search results for consumers to find the products and information they need.
  • Greater visibility of their products in online searches.
  • Improved, accurate online product information.
  • Shared product information via consumer-facing mobile devices and websites, which ultimately drive sales.

How To Enhance Your Business Using e-Commerce

With the e-commerce industry quickly growing and challenging traditional retail landscape, more and more retailers are eager to jump onto the online shopping bandwagon. The key to thrive in an e-commerce environment, however, is “to ensure the product speak the search engine language”, as put by Mr Andy Siow, one of the speakers at the GS1 Singapore Seminar held on 4 December 2015.

The event saw over 60 participants from 30 organisations in attendance, and participants were introduced to the benefits of GS1 Standards and how they could better help customers find, evaluate, and purchase products online with ease. With GS1 Standards endorsed by online giants such as Alibaba and, they could become a powerful tool for companies to boost their businesses.

GS1 Singapore and Authenticateit© Partnership
GS1 Singapore has announced its collaboration with Authenticateit© (AIT), an Australian tech firm, to launch a new authentication and traceability solution for GS1 members and businesses in Singapore. The solution comes with an easy-to-use smart device app that allows consumers to access a product’s detailed information – such as recall status, product ingredients, and product origin – and verify the product’s supply source and authenticity prior to purchase. The new solution is an answer to the increasing demand in the industry for higher safety and quality checks.
