400 Million Consumers in China will Now Have Access to Product Data

GS1 is proud to announce that Alibaba is joining the GS1 Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN®)!

Alibaba Group is the world’s largest online and mobile trading market, which runs various online and mobile platforms, covering Retail, Wholesale and Cloud Computing. There are 423 million active buyers on China’s retail platform of Alibaba Group.
 
Alibaba Group looks to expand and create more value for merchants and consumers with global brand owners. All e-Commerce trading platforms of Alibaba Group will actively expand the application scenarios of the GS1 Standards and adopt GTIN as product identifier.

On 9 September 2016, Aladdin Street, a B2B and B2C e-marketplace which prides itself on offering Premium Quality and Halal products, together with GS1 Singapore, held a seminar for business owners interested in venturing into the premium products and Halal e-commerce sphere. 

Mr Liew Wai Leong, CEO of GS1 Singapore, addressed the benefits of partnering with Aladdin Street. “There are plenty of e-marketplaces coming up, but what makes Aladdin Street stand out from the rest is their clear business focus on premium quality and Halal products. The Halal market has tremendous potential globally. We are not just talking about countries in South East Asia, but beyond that – think Middle East,” he exclaimed.

BarTender® Software Case Study - Labelling for Insulin Pen Safety

Hospitals that dispense injection pens to administer insulin to inpatients face unusual labelling challenges. A pharmacy professional used a solution that included the BarTender® label software to devise an innovative labelling system that improves patient safety.

The introduction of the injection pen in 1985 made living with insulin-dependent diabetes more manageable. Patients found the pen system, consisting of a cartridge and a disposable needle, easier to transport and administer than the traditional vial and syringe. The pens provided reliable, accurate dosing.

However, with this advance in pharmaceutical technology came new challenges for patient safety.
