Celebrating our songbirds
Residents of the lower Hunter will have the chance to hear from award winning author Tim Low in October when he visits Cessnock to talk about his latest book on the unique significance of Australia’s songbirds at a free event being hosted by Hunter Local Land Services. Read more
Spring baiting program
Local Land Services Biosecurity Officers are gearing up for another season of pest animal control with coordinated ground baiting, trapping schools, drone monitoring and other actions planned.

Grants program yields huge response
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to submit an application for the Hunter Local Land Services 2016-17 grants program. We had a fantastic response, with almost 150 applications received. Read more
Succession planning is everyone's business
Over 50 people came along to a free workshop on succession planning in August. They came from a range of backgrounds with a common interest, to get some guidance on what can be a complex and emotive subject - securing the future of the family farm.

A boost for wild dog control measures in the Hunter
The Hunter Local Land Services region has secured three grants through the Australian Government's 2015-16 Pest and Weed Drought Funding program for measures to support wild dog control efforts across affected areas in our region.

Supporting Aboriginal students
The Hunter Local Land Services Aboriginal Scholarship was awarded at a ceremony last week to two very worthy recipients: Kellee Pace and Cameron McDonnell, both students at the University of Newcastle.

Improving quad bike safety
Eligible farmers and their workers can currently apply for up to $500 to implement measures for safer use of quad bikes.
