SUMMER ISSUE DECEMBER 2022
Welcome! In this issue we reflect on some of ANZEA's big changes that have taken place - such as the return of a face-to-face ANZEA Conference and a new ANZEA Board of Trustees.

We also share some Regional events happening to welcome the new year in.

And we look forward to some professional development events and opportunities taking place in early 2023.
Tēnā koutou, talofa lava, kia orana, fakaalofa atu, talofa ni, ni sa bula, mālō e lelei, and warm Pasifika greetings.
In this newsletter:
Kia ora te whānau! We're pleased to be able to bring you this edition of our ANZEA newsletter and to share reflections on the year past as well as plans for the year ahead.

We're thrilled to welcome so many new members this year, and the connections made with new and existing members through the conference and our professional development events.  These events were definitely the highlights of the year!

This year, we also farewelled the previous board and welcomed a new ANZEA board. More about the individuals who have provided and will provide stewardship for our organisation are further along in this newsletter. The ANZEA board term is three years, with a maximum of three terms. The time and commitment of these members is incredibly appreciated.

We are looking forward to 2023 and continued opportunities to connect and learn. We also look forward to working with the Productivity Commission to support their recent publication that was open for submissions; A fair chance for all: Breaking the cycle of persistent disadvantage. Watch this space for potential opportunities to engage!

The team and I wish you and your whānau a happy and healthy holiday season. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

Ngā mihi,

Anne

ANZEA Conference 2022

The ANZEA Conference 2022, held in Wellington this October, was a great opportunity for national and international evaluators to come together (in person!) to share ideas and learning.

We would like to extend a big thank you to our Conference Sponsors and Scholarship providers! Your support continues to help strengthen and develop evaluation in Aotearoa and the wider region.

Don't forget that you can still view a few of the Conference presentations via SCHED.

Thank you to ALLEN + CLARKE for creating the ANZEA Conference 2022 videos! Click on the image below to view a short video from the conference (1 min) or visit the News and Events page of the ANZEA website to view the longer version (3 min).
Ka Mua, Ka Muri ANZEA Conference 2022 – a final word from our ANZEA Conference 2022 Co-convenors

Conference 2022 is behind us. As the conference committee and ANZEA Board reflect on the conference and think about lessons for the next one, Natalie and I as conference co-convenors have continued trying to practice the conference theme of Ka Mua, Ka Muri.

Looking back at conference we are particularly proud of the ANZEA community, and all the NZ home grown presenters at the panel sessions and throughout the programme. It was great to see the range of evaluation activities taking place, the interest in the profession, the korero taking place, the inspiration and the wero laid down, the confidence in our Aotearoa NZ evaluation!

We were pleased that we could see the torch being passed forward as we honoured those who came before. Thanks for joining us, and we hope we will see you at the next conference.

Nga mihi nui / Thanks for all you work and input into evaluation in Aotearoa NZ

New Year get together

December is such a very busy time for everyone, so we have decided to change our Christmas get together for a New Year get together instead!

We hope you will be able to join us in the New Year as we want to reinvigorate our ANZEA branch in Ōtautahi.

Join us for an inu, some kai and whanaungatanga. We’d love to hear about your work and understand how we can collectively create opportunities to support growth in our sector – especially for our young emerging evaluators.

Opportunities

EOI - We're looking for the next ANZEA Board Members!

We're looking for energetic members to engage with the stewardship of ANZEA and the direction of travel of evaluation in Aotearoa! Now is the time to send through your Expression of Interest!

We're looking for a couple of new board members, governance experience is not required (but fantastic if you do have some!). As a member serving organisation, we look to adapt and serve the needs of evaluators across Aotearoa as well as those members who are afar. We have heard from the membership that more diversity on the board is beneficial, and therefore would love to hear from members with a diversity of representation and experience, such as Māori and Pacific members. A passion for the field of evaluation is a must!

As far as time commitment, the board meets monthly for 2 hours. Outside of board meetings your subcommittee participation contributes to the strategic action of ANZEA.

Come and contribute to the future of our profession!
